The Battle
in the Apple

Danny Green built a stage for New York high school basketball. Legacy built its digital life from nothing.

The brief

A national platform for players nobody outside the five boroughs had seen.

Danny Green started The Battle to put overlooked New York prep talent in front of a national audience. It became a proving ground: Paolo Banchero, Bronny James, the Boozer twins, Mikey Williams, Jaden McDaniels, Ace Bailey and Rob Dillingham all came through it.

Legacy built the platform’s digital life from nothing — verified accounts, content strategy, targeted campaigns — and brought in Meta, SLAM, Ball Is Life, the NBPA, Barclays and Puma.

LeBron James, DJ Khaled, La La and Carmelo Anthony have all turned up to watch — which is the whole proof. A high school tournament that pulls that gallery is not a high school tournament any more.
